Laser Hair Removal, The BBare Way!
Our philosophy is laser hair removal is a commitment, and if you commit to the process, we can ensure you are getting the very most out of your treatments.
Below are a few must-do's as well as a few tips to consider before and after your laser hair removal treatment plan.

Pre-Treatment Care
Setting You Up For Success
It is important to remember that the hair phase greatly influences the efficiency of hair removal. This is why it is paramount to respect a strict appointment calendar as it will ensure the best results!
Certain daily things can sensitize the skin to laser:
- Menstration
- Medication
- Antibiotics
- Antihistamine
Certain medications can sensitize the skin to laser hair removal:
If you have taken Accutane, you cannot get waxed for 12 months from the last time used. The side effects of this medication highly affect the skin and laser hair removal can result in burning the skin.
*More medications than listed can cause photosensitivity to laser hair removal. Please consult with your health provider if you are unsure.
The hair growth cycle:
There are many influential factors that can affect the hair cycle such as age, heredity, hormones, medication, nutrition and even stress. Nevertheless, we all share the same hair cycle, broken down into three phases: anagen, catagen, and telogen.
Laser will only target the hairs in anagen stage.
Pre-Treatment Care - Continued
Sunscreen
We encourage our clients to use sunscreen after getting your treatments so that your sensitive skin doesn't get damaged.
Patch Test
We ALWAYS provide a free consultation that includes a patch test before we start any laser hair removal treatments.
Shave It
Right before your appointment, you need to shave. The laser targets the pigments of your hair follicle. The follicles have to be there for the treatment to work.
Avoid It
After your treatments, it's best to stay away from hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, the gym and perfumes for at least 24-48 hours.
No waxing
Do not wax or pluck in between your laser treatments. Only shaving is acceptable.
Botox
If you have Botox or dermal fillers in the area to be treated, we ask that you wait 14 days before and/or after your injection to receive treatments.
Consistency Is Key
You won't be silky smooth after your first treatment. It will take a few sessions.
That's why we provide packages for you and encourage you to come back regularly for your sessions.
Pain Killers
Tylenol or Advil is recommended for pre-treatment discomfort.
We recommend using over the counter medication for post-treatment care.
And you can also apply Nature’s Aid, cool towels, ice packs or aloe vera to alleviate discomfort due to heat.
Chemical Peels
You should avoid chemical peels and other laser procedures on the area being treated for 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after your laser treatment.
Avoid all alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxyl products (AHA/BHA), hydroquinone, retinol/retinoid, Tazorac, and Differin for 7 days before treatment.
The Sun
It's best if you stay out of the sun and tanning beds for at least 4 weeks prior to your laser hair removal appointment. If you're sunburned or dark tanned we can't do the treatment (winter is the best time for this service!)
Avoid sunless tanning products 7 days prior to your treatment. It is recommended that you exfoliate the area to remove any residual colour.
Au Naturel
Natural skin is the best skin! It is best not to use any lotions, oils or gels prior to your appointment.
You can apply numbing cream 30 to 40 minutes prior to your treatment but all products must be completely removed prior to treatment.
If you are treating any part of your face or neck you will be required to cleanse your entire face of any makeup or product.
Medical
If you are prone to cold sores, it is highly recommended to take an anti-viral medication prior to your treatment! If you have active cold sores we cannot treat you.
If you have used Accutane or similar products within the last 6 months you cannot have laser hair removal treatments.
Antibiotics can increase photosensitivity. We recommend that you check with your personal physician prior to receiving laser treatments.
Ineligible Candidates
Unfortunately, some candidates may not be eligible to receive laser hair removal. We cannot treat you if:
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Desired treatment area contains tattoos
- You are diagnosed with Epilepsy
-Your hair is too thin
-You have blonde, red, or grey/white hair

Possible Side Effects
Side effects are uncommon but may include:
- You may experience slight redness, bumps, and swelling in the treated area for up to 72 hours. If these conditions persist, use Nature’s Aid or Polysporin.
- Hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin)
- Hypopigmentation (loss of skin pigmentation)
- Mild to moderate burns or blisters
- Permanent skin discolouration
- Follicular edema (little pink/red “puffiness and small bumps like “goosebumps”)
- Swelling and itching in the treated area
- Hives
- Rashes
- Bruising
- Lack of desired results
Post-Treatment Care
- Most will experience between 70-90% hair reduction once done treatments
- On average, most will experience a level of hairless happiness after 6-9 sessions.
- For best results, allow your technician(s) to customize your treatment schedule based on your individual needs.
- On average, our clients experience up to 30% reduction after each treatment.
- Areas that are hormonal can need touch up even after 9 sessions
